The iPad Making House History

Hawaiian Representative Charles Djou made history today with his iPad. Apparently, he could not get a hard copy of his speech from his Staff Assistant in time, so they emailed it to him and he read it from his iPad.

Rep. Djou is new to the House, and assumed as long as it is not a laptop (“House rules allow use of handheld devices for texting, e-mailing and other forms of non-verbal communication”) he would be fine to make his speech from his iPad.  Well, of course, they are still deciding if this is kosher for the House, but I say why not?! It’s just a big iPhone anyway right?

Djou says, “Let’s hope the U.S. Congress can catch up with the 21st century.”

So do I Charles, so do I.
