If you don’t already have Poor Little It Girl in your Google Reader I would get on that… right now. I’ll wait. Go ahead.
Ok. You’re back? Now on to the fun stuff…
Poor Little It Girl is one of my daily must reads written by Cathy, blogger and fashion writer for Atlanta Magazine. My favorite part about this blog (aside from Cathy being a friend and fellow FSU Nole) is that she will only post items that are $100 and under. Hello fashionista on a budget who gets it! I asked my PLIG to help me get ready for the cold weather DC is having (since being from the south I am still learning how to dress for the real winter weather) and I thought I would have her share with my lovely readers her amazeeeee finds!
Take it away, Cathy…
There really is something so special about the seasons changing. Not sure about y’all, but I get overly excited when it comes to trading in my sundresses and sandals from the summer for the sweaters and scarves of winter. While we try to transition a few of those summer pieces into fall, it really is important to make sure you update your wardrobe with fresh new “Must Have’s” without breaking the bank! Since the cooler months require more layers, take the time to really invest (under $100 of course) in pieces that you’ll love, and wear, all season long! Here are a few of my Got-To-Have-Can’t-Live-Without-Die-For basics for the chilly months ahead:
Coat – I’m not a fan of bold outerwear. Pick a coat in a neutral tone that is fashionable and functional!
Coat: Topshop, $100
Red Lip – Since you’re bundled from head to toe with all those layers, have a bit of fun and do that red lip you’ve been dying to try!
Red Lip: Maybelline, $5.49
Black Bootie – When it’s cold out, the first thing that freeze are my feet. Rocking black opaque tights with season-appropriate boots to work are super chic and make your legs look super long!
Black Bootie: ASOS, $89.95
Cable Knit – This is your “everyday tee” for the winter. Wear it with jeans and boots or with your midi-skirt and heels!
Cable Knit: Madewell, $85
Bold Dress – Put down the LBD. I repeat: PUT DOWN THE LBD! Don’t forget to have fun with color this season and dress up for that holiday party with a yummy jewel tone dress!
Bold Dress: Old Navy, $39.94
Winter White Scarf – In the winter, white is, hands down, my favorite color! I love ivory/winter white scarves as the color draws attention to my face and is a nice contrast from all the other dark colors you tend to wear during the season.
Winter White Scarf: Topshop, $32
Turban – Say goodbye to the beanie and give your earmuff’s the day off – the turban is the oh so fab way to keep your head/ears warm this season, and you don’t even need to take it off when you’re inside…make it part of your outfit!
Turban: ASOS, $21.56
Metallic Belt – It’s always important to add a bit of glimmer into your life…and the easiest way is with a skinny metallic belt. Gold, silver, bronze – it doesn’t matter. Define your tiny waist to create a feminine figure all season long!
Metallic Belt: ASOS, $10.78
