Mad for Plaid

Top & Coat {H&M} | Pants {Meeps Vintage} | Flower Pin {c/o Kate Spade} | Gloves {Lands End} love these | Pumps {Steve Madden} similar | Bag {vintage Coach} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Chain/Gem Necklace {Bauble Bar} | Watch {Michael Kors} |  Sunnies {Karen Walker} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Cuff {F21} similar | Bangles {c/o BCF} | Lipstick {NARS – Heat Wave}

To head to SpicyCandyDC‘s two year anniversary brunch I knew I needed to pull out all the vintage stops because these ladies know their vintage. These plaid pants were the perfect choice – they are comfortable (perfect to stuff my face without concern), warm (which was definitely needed on this chilly DC day) and the perfect chic piece to brunch with some of my favorite fashion blogger ladies.

Congratulations on two wonderful blogging years, Katya & Carlis. Here is to many, many more…

Bubble Gum Pink

Top, Pants & Coat {H&M} | Pumps {Steve Madden} | Bag {vintage Coach} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Chain/Gem Necklace {Bauble Bar} | Watch {Michael Kors} |  Sunnies {Karen Walker} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Cuff {F21} similar | Ring {Lou Lou Boutique}|  Lipstick {NARS – Carthage} | Manicure {OPI – Lincoln Park After Dark}

I am absolutely, madly in love with these bubble gum pink pants. In fact, this entire look just felt so me – it is bright, has a bit of pattern mixing and of course a bit of vintage. Also, can you believe my new vintage Coach I snagged at Eastern Market this weekend?! It looks just like the Willis I was falling for!

I love these pink pants so much I also got them in my other favorite color, red! I think I may need to add colored denim to my ‘I May Have an Addiction List’  – which right now contains printed pants, brights and anything leopard. I’ve been told the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Fuzzy

Sweater {F21} | Leather Shorts {H&M} similar | Tights {Hue} | Booties {F21} | Fur Snood {c/o Ann Taylor} | Bag {Zara} | Sunnies {House of Harlow 1960} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Watch {Michael Kors} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Cuff {F21} similar | Ring {H&M} similar | Lipstick {Maybelline – Perfectly Plum} | Manicure {OPI – Lincoln Park After Dark}

Sometimes you want to keep it simple with an all black base, but I could not help but add this fuzzy fur snood gifted to me by Ann Taylor. Winter has clearly arrived here in DC and this fuzzy friend of mine will be in a heavy rotation durring the chillier DC days.

On another note, I am so thrilled and honored to be included in Refinery29’s ‘8 Reasons We Love DC in 2012’! I am truly feeling the love today.

Goodbye 2011

2011 was a growing, life-changing year for A Lacey Perspective. It was the year of my first outfit post, the first CapFABB Meetup, my first Washingtonian feature, co-hosting an event with Lucky Magazine and overall really evolving my style. This blog has been a roller-coaster ride for me. I never would have thought at the beginning of this wonderful year I would have built ALP to being a style blog (it started as a fashion blog), made amazing blogger friends that I will have for life, had press recognition and fell so hard for all things fashion by the end of the year. What started as a place to let my creative juices flow in 2010 turned into something I can’t live without in 2011.

As I put together some of my favorite looks from 2011 I could not believe how much my style has evolved, how much more comfortable I am getting in front of a camera and how lucky I am to have an amazing photographer/boyfriend/best friend like J behind me all the way. Wow. I am a lucky girl. Hope you enjoy this glance back into 2011 (pics are in chronological order)…

Weekender

Coat {H&M} | Scarf {F21} |  Pants {7FAM c/o Invista Lycra} | Flats {Sam Edelman} | Bag {Zara} | Sunnies {House of Harlow 1960} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Watch {Michael Kors} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Cuff {F21} similar | Ring {H&M} similar | Ring {LouLou Boutique} | Lipstick {NARS – Heat Wave}

Keeping it simple on these chillier weekends DC is beginning to have. I think winter has finally decide to show itself, sadly. To stay chic but comfortable shades of brown and black with a pop of color by your face is all that is needed.

Pink/Red

Blouse {c/o LOFT} | Skirt {Meeps Vintage} | Pumps {Zara} similar | Faux Chinchilla Clutch {c/o Ann Taylor}Sunnies {House of Harlow 1960} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Chain/Gem Necklace {Bauble Bar}Watch {Michael Kors} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Cuff {F21} similar | Ring {H&M} similar | Ring {LouLou Boutqiue} | Lipstick {L’Oreal – British Red}

This is by far my favorite color combo. As a blonde I learned quickly that any shade of red and pink is my friend.

Also, I am newly obsessed with my Faux Chinchilla Clutch gifted to me by Ann Taylor. It is the perfect size, full of pockets and I love its fuzzy feel. But enough about my furry clutch… I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday, whichever holiday you may celebrate.

For those of you who are wondering – yes, this skirt is from my bag of $20 Meeps vintage. ;)

Holiday Party + Giveaway

Dress { c/o Burlington Coat Factory} | Coat, Fur Stole & Clutch {H&M} |  Pumps {c/o Burlington Coat Factory} | Sunnies {House of Harlow 1960} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Watch {Michael Kors} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Bangles {c/o Burlington Coat Factory} | Ring {H&M} similar |Lipstick {L’Oreal – British Red}

Burlington Coat Factory reached out to me and challenged me to create a holiday party look for under $100. If you have been following me for awhile now – you know I LOVE a good styling challenge.

When I first walked into BCF I saw this Calvin Klein dress and knew I was going to go for an all black look (so rare for me). Then as I walked through the never ending shoe isle I saw these amazing Steve Madden black sparkly pumps. Now to get to what it cost me…

Dress $39.99 + Pumps $29.99 + Bangles $4.99 = $74.97

Not bad, right?! Then to take the challenge to the next level (always one for extra credit) I wore the look to a holiday party I was booked to attend.

Jealous of my amazing finds!? Don’t you worry… you can win a $100 gift certificate to Burlington Coat Factory too! All you need to do is:

Holiday Red

Dress & Clutch {Meeps Vintage} | Faux Fur Jacket {old – unknown} very similar |  Pumps {Steve Madden} *Now on sale! Yippee!* | Sunnies {Karen Walker} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Watch {Michael Kors} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Cuff {F21} similar | Ring {H&M} similar |Lipstick {L’Oreal – British Red} | Manicure {OPI – Lincoln Park After Dark}

Sadly my favorite DC vintage store, Meeps, is closing. When I found out I was devastated. A tad dramatic? Not when it comes to my vintage. Even the beau gasped when I told him.

Then when I discovered they were having a blow out shopping party – you know it instantly went on my calendar. I did not care what I had on there, this just took top priority. Not only was this a shopping party, but the invite said fill a bag for $20. You read that right — $20! I couldn’t believe it. My devastation soon became curiosity at what all would be left in the store for me to discover.

To make a long story short, I walked out with two bags full of vintage goodies and I could not stop smiling. Not only because of my killer finds but also because I chatted up the woman working the register and found out that my prized vintage store was being bought out and NOT shut down for good. *insert angels singing here* The vintage gods were smiling on me that night.

This sweater-like red dress was the first thing I grabbed. After getting home and trying it on (What, you thought I took the time to try each piece on?! I was on a mission to stuff bags here people!) I realized it had pockets. After some shoulder pad removal – my fav find became a new love for the holiday season. I mean HELLO beautiful color and pockets! Could it get any better?!

Pretty sure this one is the winner for my office holiday party.

Sequin Stripes

Blouse {H&M} | Skirt {vintage La Petite Marmoset} | Coat {Preston York} | Clutch {Meeps Vintage} | Gloves {Isotoner} | Mary Janes {Nine West} | Tights {Hue}Sunnies {Karen Walker} | Monogram Necklace {Max & Chloe} | Watch {Michael Kors} | Bracelet {Yurman} | Cuff {F21} similar | Ring {H&M} similar | Lipstick {L’Oreal – British Red} | Manicure {OPI – Lincoln Park After Dark}

As soon as I placed this skirt on the model, while styling LPM’s Lookbook, I knew I had to own it. Hand beaded, vintage sparkle… ummmm yes please. After walking off the photo shoot set with it in hand I knew it needed some pattern mixing for the LPM Holiday Lookbook Launch Party. I think it came together perfectly. I am so so madly in love with this skirt.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!
