Last Thursday was DC Fashion Week’s Networking Event at Tabaq Bistro. This was a time for all of the fashion industry in DC (yes — it does exist) to mix, mingle and drink their cocktail of choice. From designers to models to bloggers, all of DCs Fashionistas were there. Being typical me, I kept my eyes open for my ‘Best Dressed’ of the night and asked each of them to let me snap a picture. I warn you I had my dinky digital camera with me (it’s small enough to keep in my new vintage clutch) so the pictures are not the best quality, but I will make sure to explain the details of what I loved about each outfit. Below were my 3 favorites and what I wore to the event:
Dress {Vintage} | Fur Vest {Forever21}
I love this ensemble’s 60s feel. She stood out amongst all of the LBDs in the room. I also get a Tory Burch vibe from this outfit… right?
Although you can’t really tell due to the quality of the picture, this entire outfit was muted tans, but the silk zebra print cardi added such a great pop. Also, love her coat! This was layering perfection. What you don’t see in the picture was a perfect pair of little tan pumps. The whole ensemble seemed so delicate. I unfortunately never had the chance to ask her where all of her pieces are from, but this may be a good inspiration picture later either way.
Katherine from La Petite Marmoset
Sequined Vest {Vintage}
I am sure by now you are noticing a pattern — I am loving the combination of old and new. Anyone who can take a unique vintage piece and add it to your just bought Forever21 top is a win for me. I just love it! Katherine is not only a fellow DC FABBer (DC FABB= DC Fashion and Beauty Blogger) but she also sells her own vintage at La Petite Marmoset Vintage. My current favorite item is a fabulous blazer with an over-sized bow.
Me!
Dress {Vintage} | Belt {Banana Republic} | Biing Wedge {Steve Madden – Now on sale online for 50% off!} | Necklace {Lou Lou Boutiques} | Watch {Michael Kors} | Beaded Bracelets {H&M} | Bronze Bangle {Vintage} | Clutch {Vintage} | Tights {Hue} | Socks {Ralph Lauren} | Not In Pic: Fur Coat {Filene’s Basement}
It was a cold, wet and windy night in DC and I wanted to dress for the area the event was at (like I wrote about here) and still be warm. U Street, known for its hippie chic, I knew this amazing floral vintage dress was the perfect fit. After layering my tights with my socks I knew the best shoes to walk in this weather in, but still have a heel, were these Steve Madden wedges. I highly recommend them they are comfortable, easy to walk in and will transition into spring because of their light color. Next step was to figure out what to do with my hair. With the strong winds I knew my hair down would have been a disaster so I threw my hair in my go-to side messy bun. The wind even helped make it extra messy. After throwing on lots of accessories I still felt like the outfit needed a pop of color so I reached for my favorite hot pink lipstick.
I want to make sure you all know I am not deeming myself a ‘Best Dressed’ at the event, but I did have many people take my picture. Who knows, maybe I am someones inspiration photo?
