If I could live in one ensemble all of fall it would be this one. Simple, comfortable and classic. When it starts to get a little cooler, add tights under the faux leather shorts and BAM… fall perfection. I can promise that you will see every single one of these pieces on me for many outfit posts to come.

I had a fabulous weekend full of football, wine, shopping and friends – all during one of the most perfect DC weather weekends I have witnessed in my three years here. What more could a girl ask for?

Friday Fun: You’re Makin’ Me Blush

I am currently in love, nay obsessed, with the nude/blush colors that I am seeing everywhere. It’s a great way to ease into the big color blocking trend and is the perfect way to layer in the warmer spring/summer days. So let’s have a little Friday Fun with blush tones… Continue reading

Friday Fun: Printed Pants

My newest obsession is printed pants. High wasted, crazy patterns, and light material are just the perfect addition to spicing up my wardrobe! When I am out shopping in my favorite vintage store, Meeps, I am always buying out all of the printed pants (that fit) that they have. Sorry about the lack of printed pants if you shop there – my bad. Continue reading

Friday Fun: Candy in the Rain

I have a new bag I am obsessed with and decided to have a little Friday Fun with it. The Candy Bag by Furla in Dragon-Fruit Pink would be the perfect addition to my color drenched spring wardrobe. Speaking of drenched, this on and off rain in DC has been ridiculous. Just pick something already! Good thing I posted about the perfect rain-boot awhile ago, or you all would have wet tootsies. Sorry… I’m back from the rant. Continue reading

Affordable New York Fashion Week Style

You didn’t think I could go all New York Fashion Week and not post about it at least once, did you? I wanted to show you, my lovely ALP readers, that there is no need to feel like you must own each piece of the new DVF line to fit in with the Manhattan fashionistas at NYFW. My proof you ask? Christine, of My Style Pill, a beautiful and very stylish woman found out and about the NYFW crowd…

Top - Forever 21 | Skirt - H&M | Necklace - Charlotte Russe | Boots- ALDO

She said when having her photo taken by Jamie Beck, “My entire outfit is under $100. Affordable and attainable style is refreshing.” Amen, sister! I am still drooling over this H&M leather skirt! I dug around online and could not find anything similar to it, but I have not given up yet. Next stop, the H&M store downtown. But I digress, my point is that you can look fashionable, luxurious, and NYFW-ready with what you have from the stores you can afford. It is all about what works for you and your wallet.

Valentines Day Inspiration

The question on every woman’s mind getting ready for the day of love, Cupid, and cut-out paper hearts is — what should I wear? Below I styled several options to hopefully bring you (and me) some inspiration based on your plans.

Struck by Cupid – Traditional Valentine’s Day
If Cupid has struck you with his arrow of love and you are looking to feel feminine, flirty and holiday appropriate a pale pink dress and deep red heels are the way to go. Don’t forget the fun gold accents to add a little style and bling.

VDay 1

Casual Valentine’s Day
If you and your loved one are going for a more casual date, or even even if you are staying at home for a romantic meal, you can still look and feel good in jeans. Throw on a light feminine silk top, structured blazer, and don’t forget the pink pumps to stick with the Valentines theme. Below I gave two blazer options in case you aren’t a wear-the-colors-of-the-holiday kinda girl.

VDay 2

Single and Lovin’ It Valentines Day
If you and your sensational girlfriends are heading out to celebrate being single and fabulous then why not add a little bit of fun to your ensemble? A little bit of sparkle and feathers should do the trick. Look fabulous. Feel fabulous.

VDay with the Girls

Transition from Work to Date on Valentines Day
For this last option I started with a basic LBD from H&M (something every girl has, or should have, in their closet) and then added some fun holiday appropriate accessories such as, a multi-layered chunky necklace and a vintage beaded clutch (The tights and fur coat are for all of us still experiencing the harsh winter weather). Whether you wear the accessories all day in the office or stash them in your purse and add them later this outfit is a perfect, classic day-to-night option for the day of love.

Lots of Love,
