Friday Fun: Printed Pants

My newest obsession is printed pants. High wasted, crazy patterns, and light material are just the perfect addition to spicing up my wardrobe! When I am out shopping in my favorite vintage store, Meeps, I am always buying out all of the printed pants (that fit) that they have. Sorry about the lack of printed pants if you shop there – my bad. Continue reading

Wednesday Wish List: Spring Shoes

I am on the hunt for some basic heels to add to my spring wardrobe, but I can never have what everyone else has. I love something that is a bit different but still on trend. That is probably where my love for vintage comes from, but I digress. I dug around a bit and am really falling in love with what Urban Outfitters has to offer.

Below are just a few things on the top of my wish list… Continue reading

Happy Spring!

Yesterday was the first day of spring AND the weather is really starting to feel like it here in DC too!

What is the best way to transition your outfit from the warm, sunny afternoons to the cool, starry nights? Spring colored/printed scarfs, mixing bright colors with your winter basics, maxi skirts, layers and bright coats! Here are some pics where I am gathering my inspiration (and hopefully you will too) for my spring wardrobe from some of my favorite style bloggers and fashion sites… Continue reading

Friday Fun: Maxi Dress

Isn’t this weather beautiful, DC?! I can feel spring creeping its way in.

When I wrote about Vera Wang’s “uniform”, I began to wonder what my warmer weather “uniform” was. After flipping through some Facebook photos I began to notice it was my maxi dresses. They look stylish, are oh-so comfy, my go-to when I fly and are the perfect way to cover up my pale legs until they get some sun. In the spring I normally wear them with a cardigan or a denim jacket. My favorite part is mixing and matching their colors/prints with my accessories.

Below is my “Friday Fun” with my warmer weather “uniform”: Continue reading

Wednesday Wish List: Easing Into Spring

Below are just a few things on the top of my wish list…

Delicate Demeanor Necklace {Francesca’s Collection}
This necklace is going to add a pop of color to absolutely anything I wear. This will be a great piece to ease in the bold bright spring colors into my wardrobe right away without being overwhelming.

Tassel front loafer by DV By Dolce Vita {Asos}
If you can’t tell I am dying to add some color to my dark winter blahs, so I have been looking for pieces that will add a pop of color to help ease me into, what I hope is very soon, spring weather. These are also just too friggin’ cute to pass up. Must own.

Narrow Leg Studio Trousers {Zara}
How do you say no to bubble gum pink trousers!? I can see myself in these today with a white button down, bright clutch, tan peep-toe pumps, statement earrings and my trench to keep me warm. Perfect ease into spring ensemble.

Flatforms

Ok ALPers – I need to propose a question. What do you think about these ‘flatforms’ popping up in the spring looks? WhoWhatWear says to ‘Go Buy Now’. I’m hesitant. WWW describes flatforms as:

As seen on numerous influential runways, the flatform is the newest, most nifty shoe for spring. As you can tell from the name, it’s a hybrid of a platform and a flat, so you get a little lift in an untraditional way. (Sometimes the these shoes are not completely flat, but that’s okay because a flatform with a wee wedge still totally counts.)

None of the options above are in my price range, but I will dig around and find one for you all. I will never jump into a trend without buying a cheap version of the item and try it out on a weekend before I take the plunge for the pricey-er option. For example, before I purchased my Micheal Kors Gold Watch ($250), I purchased a watch similar in size at Target for $10 and wore it to work for a week to see if I was comfortable wearing something so large and chunky everyday. I will definitely need to use the same technique for the flatforms.

I could maybe see myself buying one pair to wear with my maxi dress and flow-y wide leg pants, but I don’t know if this will be a staple in my spring wardrobe. The ones that are completely flat just seem odd to me, but if there is a bit of a lift in the heel (…but if there is a lift in the heel then isn’t it just a wedge?) I may grab one.

Friday Fun: Wear Spring in the Winter

My inspiration picture comes from NYFW Street Style connoisseur, Mr. Newton. He is the genius with a camera snapping pictures of fashionistas all across the globe. I loved how he found this woman that made winter look like spring! I still have not been brave enough to attempt shorts with tights, but this picture may just be the push I needed.

Below I attempted to recreate the above look with a bit of my own spin…
